Celebrating Summer with our Neighbours

We hosted a party Celebrating Summer with our Neighbours on Friday night. A few weeks ago, we decided it would be fun to get to know some of the people I see on my daily dog walks. I delivered invitations door-to-door and spent time explaining our plan encouraging everyone to join us.

Friday dawned wet and rainy and continued to threaten storms for most of the afternoon. Luckily, the sun came out and dried everything in time for our party. I was so happy to be able to set up outside as planned.
We served drinks - a selection of wine, beer, pop, juice and water. Snacks included a sushi platter, a variety of corn chips, beet chips (not bad), rice crackers, cheese, fruit platter, veggie platter, hummus (regular and spicy) and cheese filled jalapeno peppers (popular).
People started arriving shortly after 7 p.m. The party was well attended with 16 guests altogether. Stick on name tags helped with introductions and name recall. Our backyard was filled with chatter and laughter. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our neighbours and feel lucky to be living amongst such a great group of people.

Celebrating Summer with our Neighbours was so much fun, it might become an annual event. Cheers to our neighbours and summer!
